Staying strong against attack on nonprofits
National Council on Nonprofits tracking tax bill threatening the sector
Congress has removed a provision from its new tax bill that would have allowed the White House to revoke nonprofit status without due process—for now.
This positive development shows that grass-roots advocacy is still working. But the National Council on Nonprofits and other groups are being vigilant against this persistent, new effort to politicize tax-exempt status. The council has issued a call to action as the bill heads for a vote.
The National Federation of Community Broadcasters is also tracking the legislation and urges the community to stay involved. Any last-minute twist could spell trouble for independent community stations.
